Getting started
Actnation is a corporate giving platform that lets employees vote on which charities their company supports.
Actnation is for companies that want to make their giving employee-driven, transparent, and measurable.
Very little. You'll need a list of employees (a simple spreadsheet is fine), a decision on your giving model (Corporate Giving, Payroll Giving, Corporate Gifting, or a combination), and a budget figure. That's it. We'll guide you through the rest in your onboarding call.
Yes. We offer a 30-day free trial so you can explore the platform, import your team, and test each giving model before committing. No credit card is required to start. Book a demo and we'll get you set up.
Actnation supports three models: Corporate Giving (company-funded wallets that employees vote with), Payroll Giving (employees donate from their salary via payroll deduction), and Corporate Gifting (automated donation gifts on occasions like birthdays and anniversaries). You can activate one, two, or all three — they work independently or together on a single platform.
Corporate Giving
You set one shared giving budget for the voting period — for example, a monthly pool sized at roughly 100 DKK per employee. There are no individual per-employee credits: each employee casts votes (1–3 per period, configurable by your admin) for the NGO campaigns they care about. When the period closes, each campaign receives its share of the budget based on its share of the votes.
If an employee doesn't vote before the voting period closes, they simply don't influence that period's split — the shared budget is still allocated across campaigns in proportion to the votes that were cast. No part of the budget goes undistributed.
You choose — monthly, quarterly, or on a custom schedule.
Your donation cycle cadence — monthly, quarterly, biannual, or annual — is configured for your company during onboarding. At the close of each cycle, Actnation calculates the vote-weighted split and transfers the donations directly to charities, with the results visible in your live dashboard.
No. Individual votes are private for the rest of the company. Only company admins can see individual votes.
Yes. Your admin dashboard shows real-time and historical data on employee voting, charity popularity, participation rates, and total donations by cause — ready to reference for board presentations, ESG filings, and annual reports.
Payroll Giving
The minimum is 50 DKK per month. There is no maximum — employees can donate as much as they choose. Employees can change their amount or pause their donations at any time from their wallet, and changes take effect from the next payroll cycle.
Yes — employees who donate to SKAT-approved charities and provide their CPR number via Actnation automatically become eligible for the Danish tax deduction scheme. The receiving NGOs are responsible for filing the SKAT donor reports, not Actnation.
If your company uses Zenegy as its payroll system, Actnation integrates directly. Deductions sync automatically each period — no CSV to send, no manual import required, and no intervention from your payroll team. The deduction line simply appears in Zenegy as a standard benefit. Ask us about enabling Zenegy sync during onboarding.
Yes. Many companies run both simultaneously — the company funds a shared giving budget (Corporate Giving) while employees can also contribute additional amounts from their own salary (Payroll Giving). Both are managed on the same platform under one login, with your giving data visible in your live dashboard.
Corporate Gifting
You can set automated triggers for birthdays, milestone birthdays, work anniversaries, and new employee onboarding. For moments like a promotion, a team win, a parental leave return, or any other spot recognition, an admin sends a one-click manual gift to the employee — fast, but not automated.
When a gift trigger fires, the employee receives a notification — in their Actnation wallet and optionally by email — telling them their company has made a donation in their name and inviting them to choose which charity receives it. They browse the catalogue and make their selection in under a minute. The donation is processed immediately and a confirmation is sent to both the employee and HR.
Gifts have a configurable expiry window (default: 30 days). If the employee doesn't make a selection within that window, the donation is automatically directed to the company's default charity or the most popular cause from the team's previous cycle. The donation is never lost.
Yes. Each trigger type can have its own gift amount. A birthday gift might be 150 DKK, a 5-year anniversary gift 500 DKK, and a new hire welcome gift 250 DKK. You set the rules once and Actnation handles everything automatically from that point forward.
For employees
Your employer will set up your account. You'll receive an invitation to join.
Yes. Individual votes are private for the rest of the company. Only the company admins can see votes.
Employees can choose to share their giving publicly within the company or remain fully anonymous. The default is anonymous. Even if individual choices are visible, exact amounts are never shared. This gives employees the option to inspire colleagues without any obligation.
You can choose from the charities your employer has approved, or the full actnation catalogue if enabled.
Yes. The Actnation platform is fully available in both English and Danish. Employees choose their preferred language in their personal settings, and all communications — notifications, reports, tax receipts — are sent in their chosen language.
Integrations
Yes. We support integrations with Zenegy, and CSV imports.
Absolutely. CSV import works with any HR system that can export a spreadsheet — which is virtually all of them. You upload the file once to import your initial employee list, and can re-upload at any time to add new employees or remove leavers. Many companies use CSV import permanently and find it takes less than 5 minutes per month.
Yes, for supported payroll systems. Contact us to check compatibility.
Billing
Actnation charges a flat monthly subscription fee based on your number of employees and the giving models you activate. The subscription is entirely separate from donation amounts — we do not take a percentage of donations or deduct any fees from what your employees give. Every kroner committed to a charity reaches it in full. See our pricing page for full details.
No. This is a core principle of how Actnation works. Platform fees are charged to the company as a separate subscription. Donations flow 100% to the receiving charities — no percentage taken, no processing fee deducted. What you give is what arrives.
Yes. Actnation is a subscription with no long-term lock-in by default. You can cancel at any time, and your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period. Any pending donations for the current cycle will still be processed and transferred to charities before your account closes.
Yes. Our pricing scales with company size, so smaller teams pay less. Actnation works for companies with as few as 10 employees. If you're a smaller organisation and want to discuss options, reach out to us directly — we're happy to find something that works.
Compliance & legal
Yes. Actnation is fully GDPR-compliant. All personal data is processed and stored in accordance with EU GDPR requirements. We act as a data processor on behalf of your company (as the data controller). A Data Processing Agreement (DPA) is available and included in our standard terms. As part of operating the platform, relevant employee data is shared with the receiving NGO and with required processors such as our accounting integration — always for legally mandated donation and reporting purposes, never for any other use.
Yes. All Danish charities on the Actnation platform are SKAT-approved (godkendt som almenvelgørende eller almennyttig forening), which means employee donations to these organisations qualify for the Danish tax deduction scheme. International charities are vetted for legitimacy and legal standing. We regularly review and update the catalogue to maintain compliance.
No. Charities only receive aggregated donation data, never personal information.
At the company level, admins can see aggregate data — participation rates, total donations, most popular causes — but individual employee giving choices are anonymised in company reports. Employees control their own privacy settings and can choose whether to share their individual giving with colleagues. Exact individual amounts are never exposed to HR or management.
All data is stored within the European Economic Area (EEA) on EU-based cloud infrastructure. Actnation does not transfer personal data outside the EEA. Full details are available in our Privacy Policy and DPA.
